Nelson Property Market

The Tasman District’s residential property market is experiencing the strong growth felt by much of the country. According to Quotable Value, the average house value has increased by 16.3% over the past 12 months – from $441,024 to $512,754. 

Meanwhile, the Nelson Region saw a slightly higher increase in property prices. QV reports that the average house value here increased by 13.8% - from $446,860 in March 2016 to $522,201 in March 2017.

Trade Me Property reports an increase in asking price of 18.2% over the same period.

Nelson Rental Market

Trade Me Property shows an increase in weekly rents of 2.7% in the Nelson/Tasman region over the past year, compared with a 2.6% rise in rents nationwide (excluding Auckland). Tenancy Services records the median weekly rent as $320/week in central Nelson and $395/week in Richmond/Wakefield/Brightwater/Mapua (Sept 2016 - February 2017).
