The Northland property market has seen strong levels of growth over the last 12 months according to Quotable Values. The Far North District saw values increase by 16.1%, Whangarei saw values increase by 19.6% and the Kaipara District saw values increase by 24.3% which all comfortably outperformed the NZ average of 8.1% between June 2016 and June 2017.
Average home values in the Far North District are $408,416, $492,588 in Whangarei and $520,852 in the Kaipara District. These values are significantly lower that the NZ average of $639,051 making buying in Northland more affordable than many other regions.
TradeMe Property data shows that average rents increased in Northland by 12.5% in the 12 months to June 2017. Tenancy Services lists the median weekly rent in Whangarei Central/Otangarei as $310 over the six months leading up to 30th June 2017.
