The Auckland residential property market has softened of the past few months, although asking prices are still up year on year, with Quotable Value showing an average property value of $1,045,059 in June 2017, a jump of 7.2% from last June. Trade Me Property confirms this report, showing that average asking prices are now around November 2016 levels. Over the 12 months to June 2017, TradeMe reports that the average asking price of a typical Auckland property is up by $67,414.
According to Trade Me Property, while almost all properties are experiencing single-digit growth, apartments are experiencing the highest growth in demand in Auckland, with an increase in asking price of 18.6%, lifting the average price to $639,150. 5+ bedroom houses are also experiencing a surge in popularity up 9.5% to $1,406,300.
Good news for Auckland property investors and owners! The demand for rental properties in the region continues to be very strong with Trade Me Property reporting a 7% jump in rental prices compared to a year ago.
